Terms of Service

These terms apply when you use the Carpdex mobile app and the carpdex.com website (together, "Carpdex"). Carpdex is operated by [Carpdex legal entity name], [registered / geographic address]("we", "us"). You can contact us at hello@carpdex.com.

By creating an account or using Carpdex you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy and, if you take part in bounties, our Bounty Rules. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

You need an account to log catches, claim bounties or subscribe to Carpdex Pro. You must give accurate information, keep your login details secure, and tell us if you think someone else has accessed your account. One account per person.

You must be at least 13 to use Carpdex, and at least 18 to subscribe to Carpdex Pro, buy or use credits, or claim a bounty.

You keep ownership of the photos, videos and catch details you submit. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and use that content to run and promote Carpdex (for example, showing your catch on a fish's page or the leaderboard). Bounty claim videos are private and only reviewed by us.

You must not submit content that is false, misleading, offensive, unlawful, or that you don't have the right to share — including photos of other anglers' catches presented as your own. We may remove content, and suspend or close accounts, that break these terms. You can block or report other users in the app.

Carpdex Pro is a paid subscription sold on carpdex.com, billed monthly or annually through our payment provider, Stripe. The price, billing period and the number of credits included are shown before you pay.

Renewal.Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, and you will be charged the then-current price, until you cancel. We'll tell you in advance of any price change, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

Cancelling.You can cancel at any time from your account page ("Manage subscription"). Cancelling stops future payments; you keep Pro and any credits already added until the end of the period you've paid for. We don't give partial refunds for unused time.

Your 14-day cancellation right. Credits are digital content supplied to your account as soon as each payment is taken. When you subscribe you ask us to supply them immediately and acknowledge that you lose your statutory right to cancel within 14 days once they are supplied.

Failed payments. If a payment fails we may retry it, and Pro may be paused until it succeeds.

Credits are added to your account with each Pro payment, or by us (for example as a promotion). One credit adds £1 to the bounty of the named fish you choose when you use it to "boost" that fish in the app.

• Credits have no cash value and can't be exchanged for money, withdrawn, sold or transferred.
• Once you boost a bounty, those credits are spent and the boost can't be undone or refunded.
• Unused credits stay on your account while it's open. They are lost if your account is deleted or closed for breaching these terms.
• Credits don't entitle you to any bounty yourself — bounties are only paid to anglers who meet the Bounty Rules.

Bounties are run and paid by us. Apple and Google are not sponsors of, and are not involved in, any bounty. Claims, eligibility, verification and payouts are governed by the Bounty Rules, which form part of these terms.

You are responsible for fishing safely and lawfully: holding a valid rod licence where required, having the fishery's permission, following its rules, and handling fish with care. Carpdex shows information about lakes and fish but doesn't give permission to fish anywhere, and lake information may be out of date.

We work to keep Carpdex running but can't guarantee it will always be available or error-free. We may change, add or remove features. If we make a change that significantly affects a paid subscription, we'll tell you and you can cancel.

We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here and, for significant changes, notify you by email or in the app. Continuing to use Carpdex after a change means you accept the updated terms.

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that isn't foreseeable, or for business losses. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.

You can delete your account at any time from the app or our account deletion page. Deleting your account cancels any active subscription. We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or that we reasonably believe are involved in fraud.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you have a complaint, please contact us first at hello@carpdex.comand we'll try to resolve it. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in your local courts.
